The US Navy is making history by recycling
24 tons of scrap steel recovered from the
World Trade center after the 9/11 attacks.
The name of this amphibious war ship is the
USS New York. The 24 tons of scrap steel
was pored into the vessel’s bow section.
The ship is designed for missions that
include special operations against
terrorists. It will carry 360 sailors and
700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered
ashore by helicopters and assault craft.
